OVERLAND PARK, Kansas — BYU junior Ryder Robinson was today named a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award by the College Baseball Foundation.

The Award is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding shortstop by the CBF and the College Baseball Hall of Fame. The award is named in honor of Brooks Wallace, a shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977-80 who passed away at age 27 after a courageous battle with leukemia.

The semifinalist list of 50 individuals includes 2025 Brooks Wallace Award winner Roch Cholowsky (UCLA) and semifinalists Dee Kennedy Jr. (Kansas State). Cholowsky and Kennedy, along with Robinson, Camden Kozeal (Arkansas) and Jake Schaffner (North Carolina) have won Brooks Wallace Award weekly honors in 2026.

On March 17, Robinson was named the Brooks Wallace Award National Player of the Week for his overall performance at shortstop and at the plate. He is one of just 10 student-athletes to be honored during the 2026 season.

Robinson is hitting .291 on the year with 24 RBIs and 34 runs scored. Robinson leads BYU in runs, walks (21), triples (2), stolen bases (10) and assists (99). He is second or third on the team in hits (46), home runs (8), total bases (80) and on base percentage (.392).

In addition to his offensive success, Robinson has 99 assists on the season, which is second in the Big 12, just one behind the conference leader. He also has 64 putouts and a season field percentage of .953 in 171 attempts.

As a sophomore in 2025, Robinson received All-Big 12 Honorable Mention, was a CSC Academic All-District honoree and was the week 10 Big 12 Co-Player of the Week. On the year, Robinson hit .281, with 11 home runs and 46 RBI while scoring 52 runs. He also started all 55 games at shortstop and helped BYU set a school-record season fielding percentage of .978.

The CBF annually presents the Brooks Wallace Award, National Pitcher of the Year Award, John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, Skip Bertman Coach of the Year Award, George H.W. Bush Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Wayne Graham Award for Teaching Excellence.
