Taylor rose from No. 4 in school history to the new school record holder as the senior ran a 56.41, which is tied for the third-best time in the Big 12 this season. This is Taylor’s first school record. Kali McEuen also competed in the event, and her time would have broken Brenna Porter’s previous record from 2019 with a 56.44. McEuen earned the No. 2 spot on the program’s 400m hurdles list, rising from No. 9.

Zoey Bonds clocked the fourth-fastest 100m hurdles time in school history with a 13.17, improving nearly one-tenth of a second from her previous best.

True freshman Cambria Hasler added a top 10 performance, her first, in the 400m as she clocked a 53.85 to earn the No. 10 spot. Hasler took second to former teammate Sami Oblad but finished more than one second ahead of the rest of the field.

“I am so happy,” Hasler said. “Making the top 10 board as a freshman was one of my goals when I signed here last year, so today was rewarding. I am so lucky and thankful to be here at BYU with the best coach and team in the world. Everyone pushes and lifts each other up like none other.”

Tia Brown leads the heptathlon group after day one. The true freshman has 3,199 points, putting her ahead by more than 200 points. Brown set a new outdoor best in the shot put with her throw of 11.43m/37-6, which earned her second place.

Abbie Scott won the pole vault with her 4.07m/13-4.25, marking her second win in the event this season. Jayda Lee notched a new best in the hammer throw with her 55.57m/182-3.75 to take second.

Paje Rasmussen, Mikensi Smith and Hasler will advance to Thursday’s final of the 100m, while Bonds, McEuen, Brown and Berklie Ahlander will also compete in Thursday’s 100m hurdles final. Ahlander’s 14.45 marked a new personal best.
