STANFORD, Calif. – Jane Hedengren broke the NCAA 10,000-meter record with her 30:46.80 at the Stanford Invitational on Friday at Cobb Track and Angell Field.

In her outdoor and 10,000m debut, Hedengren’s 30:46.80 dethroned Florida’s Parker Valby’s collegiate record set in 2024 by nearly four seconds. She and New Mexico’s Pamela Kosgei remained tightly grouped throughout the race, but the Provo, Utah product pulled away in the final lap with her 1:06.12 close. Hedengren won by more than three seconds and beat the rest of the field by more than 45 seconds. The performance marks the second NCAA record Hedengren owns, adding to her 5000m indoor mark of 14:44.79. It is also her first appearance on the outdoor program top 10 list. She now holds three school records, including the indoor season.
