WACO, Texas — BYU lost a tough pitching duel, 3-1, to Baylor in game three of a Big 12 baseball series Saturday afternoon at Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark.
Baylor (18-13, 7-5) scored three runs on just four hits while stranding 11 runners. BYU (14-16, 5-7) scored one run on six hits while leaving three on base.

Summary
After three and a half scoreless innings, Baylor scored first in the bottom of the fourth, plating three runs on two walks, a single and a sacrifice fly for a 3-0 advantage.
BYU responded with a run in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 3-1. With two outs, Keoni Painter singled up the middle and scored on a double to left center by Patrick Graham. Bryker Hurdsman then singled to center but Graham was thrown out at the plate in a bang-bang pay to end the Cougar threat.
The Bears pitching then retired the final twelve Cougars of the game for the 3-1 victory and the 2-1 three-game series win. BYU pitchers Cayson Bell and Ashton Johnson combined to throw eight innings, surrendering just four hits while striking out seven in the loss.
