NEW ORLEANS – Jane Hedengren earned the USTFCCCA Women’s Athlete of the Week award for the fourth time in her track and cross country career, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
Hedengren received the honor following her performance Friday at the Stanford Invitational, where she set a new NCAA record in the 10,000-meter, breaking Florida’s Parker Valby’s previous mark by nearly four seconds. The true freshman defeated reigning 10,000m NCAA champion Pamela Kosgei (New Mexico) by more than three seconds to win the race. Additionally, Hedengren’s NCAA record ranks as the seventh-fastest time by an American.
The Provo, Utah, native becomes one of two BYU women to receive an outdoor USTFCCCA weekly honor, joining Lexy Halladay-Lowry, who earned the award during the 2025 season. Since the award’s inception in 2015, Hedengren is the most decorated BYU women’s athlete, with two honors during track and field season and four total when including cross country.
