PROVO, Utah — BYU will host Utah Valley in a midweek nonconference game on Tuesday, May 12 at 6 p.m. MDT at Miller Park. The Cougars will then welcome No. 17 ranked Kansas to Provo, May 14-16, for the final regular-season Big 12 series of the year.

BROADCAST PLANS. All four games will be broadcast live on ESPN+. The games will also be available on the BYU Radio app, BYUradio.org, SiriusXM 143 and 107.9 FM in Utah County with Greg Wrubell providing play-by-play. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday's games are schedule for 6 p.m. MDT, with the Saturday contest slated for 1 p.m. MDT. 

WEEKEND RECAP. BYU is coming off a 2-2 week that opened with a 5-3 win over UNLV on Tuesday, May 5 in Las Vegas. The Cougars then won the middle contest of a three-game series with Texas Tech (1-2, 12-3, 11-15) in Lubbock, Texas, May 7-9. 

SERIES HISTORY. BYU and UVU will meet for the 51st time in baseball on May 12. The crosstown foes have met at least once each season since 2005 with the Cougars leading the series 39-11, including 20-4 in games at Miller Park. BYU has won 18 of its last 20 meetings with UVU, including the last four. 

PREVIEWING THE MATCHUP. BYU is 25-25 on the year and 13-14 in Big 12 play. Meanwhile UVU enters the crosstown matchup at 16-34 and 2-13 in the WAC. Tuesday’s game is the second of two midweek contests between the Cougars and Wolverines in 2026. BYU defeated UVU, 10-5, in the first meeting on April 7 at UCCU Ballpark in Orem. 

Cougar first baseman/designated hitter Matt Hansen was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and two runs to pace the Cougars in the first meeting. BYU scored 10 runs on seven hits, stranding nine runners, while UVU plated five runs on 10 hits while leaving 13 on base. 

KNOW THE FOE. UVU is coming off a 1-3 week that began with a 9-5 loss at Utah. The Wolverines then traveled to Abilene, Texas, where they won the middle contest of a three-game series with Abilene Christian (2-9, 5-3, 16-6), May 8-10.

Former Cougar infielder Chipper Beck leads UVU in average (.357), and hits (61) while outfielder Kaden Carpenter is the team's pacesetter in RBI (53), runs (50), doubles (18) and stolen bases (18). Hunter Katschke is the UVU home run leader (21) and is slugging a blistering .711.

BAT CATS. As a team, BYU enters the UVU game hitting .281 with 71 home runs and a slugging percentage of .474. Sophomore first baseman Ezra McNaughton is hitting .346 and leads the Cougar offense in just about every statistical category. McNaughton is ranked in the top 10 in the Big 12 in hits (72), home runs (14) and total bases (128). 

PITCHING MATCHUP. BYU will start right-hander Blade Paragas on the mound Tuesday. The redshirt freshman, who is coming off an injury, will make just his second appearance as a Cougar. Paragas, from Makaha, Hawaii, started the midweek game at UNLV last week, going one inning while striking out one of the three batters he faced. 

UVU will start right-handed pitcher Trey Jacobson. The junior from Cedar City, Utah, has appeared in nine games with one previous start, and one save. Over 8.2 innings, he has struck out six, while surrendering nine runs.
