PROVO, Utah — BYU Director of Athletics Brian Santiago has named Todd Miller head men’s golf coach.

“We are excited to announce Todd Miller as our new head men’s golf coach,” Santiago said. “He has been mentored by one of the best coaches in the business, Bruce Brockbank, and is ready to lead our golf program into the future. Todd is an ambassador for the game of golf and will be a great teacher and mentor for our incredible student athletes. The future is bright.”

Miller takes over after the retirement of Brockbank who was at the helm for 34 seasons. He coached alongside Brockbank for 21 of those seasons, seven as an assistant and 14 as director of golf. Brockbank will remain with the team through July.

Miller, like Brockbank, has spent his entire collegiate golfing and coaching career at BYU. He started his freshman season with the Cougars in 1998 and finished his playing career in 2005. Miller spent 2000-2002 serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Chile Santiago South Mission. He was named an All-American honorable mention in 2004 and an Academic All-American in 2005. In 42 career events, Miller compiled three top-5, five top-10 and seven top-15 finishes.

“I am humbled by this unique opportunity to be a head coach at Brigham Young University,” Miller said. “For the past 21 years, I’ve watched Bruce Brockbank recruit, coach and love our golfers, and now I get the privilege to step into that role. I am passionate about BYU because of the impact the coaches, athletic department and the university had in my personal life. My desire is to create an environment where our student-athletes can grow spiritually and succeed in their academics while competing at the highest level in collegiate athletics. Our goal will be to win another national championship, and I feel like we have the support from our department, our donors and our alumni to accomplish it.”

As director of golf, Miller led the Cougars to 41 tournament victories, most notably the 2025 NCAA Reno Regional and four conference championships. He also helped the Cougars to 38 individual titles. He brought seven different teams to the NCAA National Championship, with two of those runs resulting in top-15 finishes. Miller helped produce 14 All-Americans and 22 Academic All-Americans.

Miller is the son of former BYU All-American, PGA Tour legend and NBC golf analyst Johnny Miller. Todd spent the first two years of his playing days on the team with his brothers Scott and Andy before departing for missionary service. Andy was a four-time All-American in all four years as a Cougar before turning pro in 2000. The Miller family legacy continued the past two seasons as Miller’s nephew Simon Kwon joined BYU for his final two collegiate seasons.

Todd Miller is married to Shannon Miller. They met in 1999 when Todd was a sophomore at BYU. They have three daughters and a son. Their oldest is currently serving a mission, and their second will depart for a mission in September.

Miller and Santiago will appear together on BYU SportsNation on Wednesday at 10:20 a.m. for Miller’s first media appearance as head coach.
