Years at BYU
2009-2009
Angela Bradford Halafuka began working as an assistant coach for the BYU women's golf team in the fall of 2009.
A former Cougar student-athlete, Halafuka came to BYU with a wide range of golf experience. She golfed for the Cougars as a freshman in 2000 after a successful career at Timpview High School, where she was named All-Region as a junior and senior. She was also the 1997 Utah Junior State Amateur Champion and made the cut at the 1998 Junior World Open.
After graduating from BYU in 2004 with a degree in broadcast journalism, Halafuka continued to pursue her passion for golf. She worked at the Alpine Country Club as a pro-shop starter and sales agent, retooling golf equipment and serving as a liaison with Club members. She also worked as a golf sales representative at Copeland Sports, fixing golf clubs, managing inventory and outfitting golfers with equipment. Her broadcast journalism experience led to a stint as the Associate Producer for ABC Channel 4's 10 p.m. nightly newscast. Halafuka currently works as a golf instructor and is in the process of seeking qualification as a Class-A Teaching Professional.
Halafuka's success on the golf course has included 55 tournament titles in an eight-year span. She won the Tournament of Champions and WinterChamps 2006, the top women's amateur in the state of Utah. She has also been a Junior World Qualifier for four consecutive years, making the National Finals cut in 2008, and competed at the Junior America's Cup for two years.
Halafuka and her husband, Sunia, have five children.
