Playing Career
Transferred to the University of Utah in 1975, where he suffered a career-ending back injury; was an All-American linebacker and defensive end at Santa Barbara CC (1973-74).
Career Highlights
Helped guide the Cougars to their highest finish since 1996 in the polls at No. 12 in 2009; has coached in every Division I conference in the West. He recruited six players who became All-pro in the NFL. Has coached 12 bowl games.

Personal/Family
Wife (Karen Curtis, a member of the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame and served as head volleyball coach at BYU, Washington State, UNLV and Central Arizona College where she won a national championship. Karen was an assistant coach of the USA Women's National Team through the Barcelona Olympics. They have three sons: Mackenzie, Tanner and Tucker.
