Wayne Tucker was hired as head baseball coach in 1956. He is a veteran player and manager. He replaced Dave Crowton, long-time member of the Y coaching staff, who stepped down after 20 years coaching because of ill health.
Tucker has been in the Yankee chain for more than 12 years, playing and managing with several top clubs. He played with the Kansas City Blues, Newark and Beaumont. Later he managed at Beaumont, Fon du Lac, Phoenix and Boise in the Yankee chain. He is the older brother of Karl Tucker who played shortstop for BYU in 1951-52.
