Years at BYU
2008-2009
Chelsea Goodman enters her first season as an assistant coach at BYU in 2008. She will serve as the Cougars' travel coordinator as well as helping with recruiting and working with the outside hitters.
Coaching Career
This will be Goodman's first experience as a coach at the Division I level. She has been an active member of the coaching ranks at various BYU camps during her Cougar playing career.
Playing Career
A two-time All-American and three-time All-Mountain West Conference selection, Goodman played for the Cougars from 2004-07 as an outside hitter. She finished her BYU career ranked seventh all-time in program history in career kills (1,493), fifth in career kills per game (3.92) and sixth in career digs (1,100). Her career kills and kpg marks are fourth in MWC history while her career dig tally is second, just nine off the league record.
A dominant presence on the outside, Goodman set the MWC career double-double record with 57, including 23 as a senior while posting double-digit kills in every match she played in in 2007. She was named an all-conference selection three times and earned All-Region honors twice. After receiving American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention as a junior, her career culminated in an AVCA All-America Third Team selection in 2007, making her the first Cougar since Nina Puikkonen in 2000 to be named to an All-America team.
In addition to her prowess on the court, Goodman exemplified extraordinary leadership and academic skills during her Cougar career. The two-time team co-captain earned Academic All-MWC accolades three times.
Personal
A graduate of Mountain View High School in Mesa, Ariz., Goodman will graduate in April with a degree in School Health.
