Jennie Smith is in her 15th season with the women's soccer team. Smith excelled as a midfielder during her four-year collegiate career with BYU from 1998-2001. In 2002 she joined the team as a manager while she finished her degree in Health and Human Performance: emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. She earned a permanent position on the coaching staff in 2003. Smith enters her fourth year as an administrative assistant.
Smith was a big-time recruit for BYU. In high school, she was named All-Region from 1995 to 1997 and was All-State in 1997. She was also the Bingham High School Most Valuable Player from 1995-1997.
Smith made an immediate impact upon arriving at BYU, playing in 23 games and starting in seven her freshman year. She never missed a game during the remainder of her collegiate career, becoming a dominant force for the Cougars. As a senior she made the MWC First Team and the MWC Tournament Team. She has one more year before finishing a masters program in social work.
Smith has four siblings. She currently resides in Provo and is married to Chris Smith.
