2001-2009
Assistant coach Jonas Chatterton enters his eighth year on the staff under Coach Judkins. He coached the mens basketball team for two years at Westminster College in Salt Lake, helping bring back a once canceled basketball program.
During his seven years with BYU Chatterton has made significant contributions to the program. In five of the last seven seasons, the Cougar team has participated in postseason tournaments including back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 2006 and 2007.
This past season BYU compiled a 13-16, 7-9 record on the year with senior co-captain Mallary Carling garnering MWC Second Team accolades while senior center Lauren Varley, the other co-captain, picking up MWC Honorable-Mention honors.
Most recently, the Cougar team recorded back-to-back MWC Regular Season Titles in 2006 and 2007 with players Ambrosia Anderson and Dani Wright being named MWC Co-Players of the Year those same seasons.
During his first year as an assistant coach (2001-02), the BYU team advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in the programs history. In 2005-06, the team had its best finish in school history with a 26-6 record and an appearance in the NCAA tournament. That same year the team clinched the MWC Regular Season Title and was ranked in the top 25 for most of the season.
Chatterton played one year for Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana to go along with his two year of coaching experience. He grew up in Salt Lake and graduated from Judge Memorial High School. He majored in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Utah with a minor in Sociology.
He lives in Salt Lake City and has one daughter, Josie, who is six.
Coaching Responsibilities: recruiting student athletes, the defensive game board, and skill development with the post players.
Hobbies: Spending time with his daughter, golfing and hunting.
