Kaz Sakita, a native of Japan, is in his third year as BYUs baseball trainer. Sakita is planning to graduate with a masters of science degree from BYU. He graduated with a bachelors degree from BYU, majoring in exercise science with an emphasis on athletic training. He has also served as an athletic training student at Timpview High School and for BYU football, baseball and mens and womens track and field and for the Missionary Training Center in Provo. Sakita transferred to BYU from Merced Community College in California where he won the Outstanding Student Award. He also attended the Human Academy Sports Medicine Technical College in Osaka, Japan where he assisted in mens basketball and football. He is certified by the NATA Board and by the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and received his ATC CSCS in 2009. Sakita is married to Saori Hotta and they have a one-year-old daughter.
