2008-2011
Gomes is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil who played one year on the BYU squad. He began his volleyball training on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro with his father as his coach. He went on to lead his Impacto High School team to a Rio de Janeiro Championship and two second place finishes in the national tournament. He also played two years of club volleyball for Tisuca Tenis Club, Fluminese under Gilberto Girino before coming to Provo.
As a freshman in 2006, Gomes played in 22 matches and started one. He recorded 44 kills and eight aces on the year to go along with his 32 digs and five blocks at the outside hitter position. He recorded a career-high 13 kills, two aces and four digs against Ohio State in arguably his best performance of the year.
He is currently in his second year as a volunteer assistant coach with the team.
