Responsibilities
Golightly is the Associate Clinical Director for BYU Counseling and Psychological Services. He joined the clinical faculty in 2008 and the sports medicine team in 2014. Golightly is responsible for treating a variety of mental health issues in order to help student-athletes remove any obstacles preventing successful academic and sport performance. He conducts individual, couples and group therapy for student-athletes. He is also tasked with teaching responsibilities in two courses for the university – Performance Psychology and Contemporary Issues for Student-athletes.
Education
- BA in psychology and Italian from the University of Arizona in 2000
- MS in school counseling psychology at BYU (2002)
- Ph.D. in counseling psychology at BYU (2007)
Prior to BYU
- Before returning to BYU, Golightly was on staff at the Texas Tech University Student Counseling Center. He was the Outreach Coordinator with a special assignment in Athletics where he served as a psychologist for student-athletes.
- Before that he completed a psychology internship at Texas A&M University’s Student Counseling Service.
- Golightly was a Psychology Graduate Assistant in the BYU Department of Athletics for six years while completing his advanced degrees.
