Wayne Soffe served over 10 years on the BYU coaching staffs, including 1949-51 as head baseball coach.
Soffe graduated from Jordan High School in 1934 after an outstanding athletic career which saw him named on several all-state football and basketball teams. In 1937 he was captain of the BYU football team and was named on a majority of the all-conference teams for his performance at an end position.
Soffe graduated from BYU in 1938 with a bachelor's degree and in 1940 earned a master of science degree, also in physical education from BYU. From 1942-46 he served as athletic and military training officer for C.H.S.U. 33 in the U.S. Navy.
