Fans are encouraged to wear Royal Blue when BYU baseball hosts Utah on Tuesday night to open the home season at Larry H. Miller Field in Provo.

In the tradition of  “old school” the Cougar team is hopeful of wearing Royal Blue uniforms as well for the Deseret First Duel tilt with the Utes.

“Utah is a special game and we are trying to keep our alumni in mind,” BYU Coach Mike Littlewood said of the team's Royal Blue uniforms soon to be unveiled. “We are not going to come out flat against Utah, we want to do our best.”

The Cougars (4-8) are coming off a three-game winning streak last week in St. George against Seattle. Littlewood plans to start senior co-captain Desmond Poulson (2-0, 2.84 earned run average) on the mound against Utah (5-5).

“Desmond gives us a great opportunity to win,” Littlewood said. “We just want to continue solid play after a rough start.”In addition to the three-game winning skein, BYU also has junior catcher Jarrett Jarvis who is on a 10-game hitting streak dating back to last season.  Sophomore Trace Hansen leads the Cougars with a .417 batting average.

The Cougars and Utes play on Tuesday at 6 p.m., in the first of four games between the two in the   series worth a combined total of three points in the Deseret Duel standings. BYU won the baseball portion of the Duel last year and has won five of the six years since the Duel started in 2007-08.

Tuesday's BYU-Utah game marks the baseball debut on the W.tv, an audio stream which will have play-by-play from veteran BYU baseball announcer Brent Norton. Norton will also call the play-by-play for KOVO 960 AM.

NOTE: For Nicholls St. live streaming, you can purchase a one-day pass for $6.95, or a monthly pass for $10.95
