POSTGAME NOTES
Taysom Hill rushed for 259 yards – the most yards by a quarterback in the nation in a single game so far this season. His mark is the second most by an FBS quarterback in the past 10 years, just behind Vince Young’s 267 yards in 2005. The mark also set his career high and ranks No. 2 all-time at BYU behind Eldon Fortie, who rushed for 272 in 1962.
Jamaal Williams rushed for a career-high 182 yards. His previous career high was 155 vs. Hawai’i in 2012.
Hill’s 68-yard touchdown run in the second quarter ties the school record (which he set last year against Hawai’i) for the longest run by a quarterback.
With 550 yards on the ground, the Cougars broke the all-time school rushing record, which was previously set in 1958 against Montana (465 yards).
BYU’s 550 rushing yards are the most allowed by Texas in its program history.
The last time BYU beat a ranked opponent at home was Nov. 28, 2009, against No. 21 Utah. The Cougars last win over a top-15 team was over No. 3 Oklahoma to start the 2009 season. BYU's last win over a ranked team overall was also in 2009 when BYU downed No. 18 Oregon State to win the Las Vegas Bowl.
Cody Hoffman moved to No. 3 in BYU history for career receptions with his two receptions vs. Texas. The senior receiver now has 205 catches in his career. He trails just Margin Hooks (215) and Dennis Pitta (221).
Justin Sorensen’s four field goals are the most in one game since Owen Pachman kicked four against Utah in 2000.
The last time BYU had two players rush for 100 yards or more was vs. Hawai’i in 2012, when Hill rushed for 143 yards and Williams rushed for 155 yards.
Senior defensive back Skye PoVey had a career-high nine tackles, including eight solo.
Danny Frazier was the alumni flag bearer. Craig Bills carried the team flag, and Jherremya Leuta-Douyere carried the special teams flag.
The game was delayed due to weather for almost two hours (1:53). The delay marks the second time in two weeks BYU's game was delayed by weather.
