Following a bye week and 40-21 victory against No. 15 Texas, BYU hosts in-state rival Utah Saturday at 8:15 p.m. MDT on ESPN2. Fans can listen in on the Cougar IMG Sports Network 1160 AM, 102.7 FM and BYUcougars.com, as well as ESPN 700.

The Countdown to Kickoff pregame show will begin at 7 p.m. MDT on BYUtv and BYUtvsports.com. Fans can also tune in to BYUtv and BYUtvsports.com for the live postgame show at the conclusion of the game. Radio coverage will begin at 6 p.m. MDT on the Cougar IMG Sports Network 1160 AM/102.7 FM and BYU Radio (SiriusXM channel 143).

Complete BYU vs. Utah Game Notes

Series

BYU is 31-53-4 vs. Utah, with Utah winning the last outing 24-21 Sept. 15, 2012 in Salt Lake City. 

Following Saturday’s game, the series will take a two-year break for the first time since the 1940s, when BYU did not field a team from 1943-1945 due to World War II. BYU will next take on Utah in 2016. Games for 2017 and 2018 were announced Monday.

Deseret First Duel

BYU is 4-2 overall in the Deseret First Duel rivalry series, with Utah winning the latest overall contest on a tiebreaker. The contest, in which schools earn points based on victories in various sports, began in the 2007-08 season. Ten points are on the line for Saturday’s rivalry game. Saturday BYU will sport royal blue uniforms, and Utah will wear red uniforms. The series is sponsored by Deseret First Credit Union.

Rushing vs. Texas

Quarterback Taysom Hill rushed for a career-high 259 yards, good for second-most yards in a game all-time at BYU. He also tied the record for longest BYU quarterback rushing touchdown with a 68-yard scoring run vs. Texas. He tied his own record set in 2012 vs. Hawai’i.

Jamaal Williams recorded a career-high 182 yards rushing vs. Texas on 30 carries. The sophomore running back now has five 100-yard rushing games in his career and is No. 3 nationally in rushing yards per game.The last time BYU and Utah met was Sept. 15, 2012, when the Utes won 24-21 in Salt Lake City. 

BYU tallied a school-record 550 rushing yards vs. Texas, a record that has stood since 1958. It was also a record for rushing yards allowed at Texas. BYU totaled 679 offensive yards.

The Hoff Show

Hoffman needs three touchdowns, 475 yds and 17 receptions to become the BYU all-time record holder in each of those categories. He needs four more 100-yard receiving games to become the BYU leader in that category and 882 yards to become the BYU all-time all-purpose yards leader. Hoffman missed the UVa game due to a hamstring injury, but returned for the victory vs. Texas.
