PROVO, Utah—BYU center Tejan Koroma received his fifth national honor of the season as he was named to the 2014 Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team Wednesday.

Koroma, who was previously named FBS Independent Freshman of the Year by a nationwide media panel, was also selected to ESPN, Sporting News and 247Sports/CBSSports.com and Phil Steele's all-freshman teams.

Out of Allen, Texas, Koroma dominated on the field, grading out as BYU's top offensive lineman and most consistent game-to-game performer with more than five flat-back blocks per game. He was the only true freshman in the FBS this year to start every game at center while playing the most snaps of any player on the BYU offensive line.

He excelled in his responsibility to call all run and pass blocking schemes as a true freshman while his contributions helped BYU total 248 rushing yards and five rushing TDs in a 41-7 road victory at Texas with Nagurski Award finalist defensive lineman Malcom Brown.

He became a leader of an offensive line that helped the Cougars average 181.8 yards rushing, 278.7 yards passing and 37.1 points per game en route to BYU achieving its 10th-straight bowl invitation, finishing 8-5 on the season. The Cougar offense averaged more points than any previous BYU offense since the 2001 season.

Among others receiving FWAA honors were national runner-up Oregon running back Royce Freeman and national champion Ohio State quarterback and fellow Texas native J.T. Barrett.
