ESPN, BYUtv announce television plans for four BYU football home games

PROVO, Utah (May 31, 2017) — ESPN and BYUtv today announced game times and broadcast plans for 2017 BYU football home games against Portland State, Utah, Wisconsin and Massachusetts.

BYU’s season opener on Saturday, Aug. 26 against Portland State will be a featured national telecast on ESPN with a 1 p.m. MT kickoff (3 p.m. ET) from LaVell Edwards Stadium. The BYU-Utah game on Saturday, Sept. 9 in Provo will kick at 8:15 p.m. MT (10:15 p.m. ET) and be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU, while the BYU-Wisconsin matchup on Saturday, Sept. 16 will start at 1:30 p.m. MT (3:30 p.m. ET) on ABC or ESPN. Specific network designations for the Utah and Wisconsin games will be announced following the games on Sept. 2.

The BYU-UMass game on Saturday, Nov. 18 will be televised nationally on BYUtv and ESPN3 with kickoff set for 1 p.m. MT (3 p.m. ET).

To date, TV plans for 10 of BYU’s 13 games have been announced—seven games on one of the ESPN networks, two matchups on the CBS Sports Network and one contest on BYUtv. Broadcast plans and game times for the remaining games will be announced at a later date.

Previously announced games on the ESPN networks in 2017 include BYU’s ESPN matchup with LSU (Sept. 2, 8:30 p.m. CT) in the Advocare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium in Houston; featured Friday night contests with Boise State (Oct. 6, 8:15 p.m. MT) on ESPN in Provo and against UNLV (Nov. 10, 7:30 p.m. PT) on ESPN2 in Las Vegas; and a road game at Fresno State (Nov. 4, time TBD) on one of the ESPN networks (specific network TBA).

Previously announced games on the CBS Sports Network include a Friday night contest at Utah State (Sept 29, 6 p.m. MT) and a late Saturday afternoon outing at Hawai’i (Nov. 25, 4 p.m. HT).

Overall, BYU’s 2017 football schedule features a 13-game regular-season slate against schools from six conferences—Southeastern, Big Ten, Pac-12, American, Mountain West, Big Sky—and fellow independent UMass. BYU’s opponents represent 11 different states, including California, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah and Wisconsin.
