NORTHBROOK, Ill. – Allstate Insurance Company and the American Football Coaches Association announced BYU senior linebacker Fred Warner as a 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team nominee.

Since 1992, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® has brought together a select group of college football players from across the country to honor their dedication to volunteerism and enriching the lives of others. While players are often recognized for their accomplishments and achievements on game day, these student-athletes have made significant contributions to the greater good of society, inspiring future generations of young athletes and the larger college football community.

One of 146 nominees, Warner was recognized for various community service with the team, including participating in BYU’s True Blue Hero program and visiting the Utah State Prison. Additionally, Warner traveled to the neighborhood of Harlem in New York City with the More to Life Foundation, led by BYU head coach Kalani Sitake, where he spoke to schools and put on a football clinic with the Harlem Jets.

On the field, Warner has played in 36 career games with 25 starts at outside linebacker. In 2016, he led BYU in total tackles with 86 and has six career interceptions, including a pick-six against Boise State. Warner recovered four fumbles in 2015 and forced two fumbles in 2016.
