SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce the 2016-17 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball All-Academic Team. The list is headlined by four CoSIDA All-District 8 Academic honorees: BYU sophomore Eric Mika, Gonzaga junior Nigel Williams-Goss, Saint Mary’s senior Joe Rahon and Santa Clara senior Nate Kratch.

In addition to Mika, Davin Guinn represents BYU on the All-Academic Team while Braiden Shaw earned honorable mention.

Kratch makes his third consecutive appearance on the list, while Loyola Marymount’s Steven Haney, San Francisco’s Chase Foster and Rahon appear on the squad for the second straight year. Gonzaga’s Przemek Karnowski earned All-Academic Team honors as a junior in 2014-15.

For the third straight year, more than half of student-athletes on the first team make their debuts while four are pursuing Master’s Degrees. All told 16 student-athletes qualified for all-academic consideration.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
