BOSTON – BYU junior forward Yoeli Childs was named to the mid-season watch lists for the 2018-19 Lute Olson Award and the 2018-19 Lou Henson Award. Both awards are presented by CollegeInsider.com.

The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I player in college basketball while the Lou Henson Award is presented to the nation's top mid-major player.

Childs has started all 17 games for the Cougars while averaging team highs of 21.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He is also shooting 54.2 percent from the field and has 10 double-doubles. Dating back to last season, Childs has scored in double figures in 23-consecutive games.

Nationally, Childs is tied for third in double-doubles, tied for 15th in rebounding and is 21st in scoring. In the BYU record book, Childs has climbed to 24th in career scoring, 16th in rebounds and fifth in blocks.

Jimmer Fredette (2010, 2011) and Kyle Collinsworth (2015) were finalists for the Olson award and were named to the Lute Olson All-America team in each of those seasons.

Lute Olson won 780 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona. During that stretch he led the Wildcats to 11 Pac-10 Conference titles, 23 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, four Final Four appearances and a National Championship in 1997.

Lou Henson coached 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.

The 2019 Lute Olson Award and the 2019 Lou Henson Award will be presented at the College Insider awards event in April at the site of the men’s Division I National Championship in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
