PROVO, Utah (Nov. 12) – BYU men’s basketball head coach Mark Pope today announced an 11-game nonconference schedule to tip off the 2020-21 season.

“We are really excited about this nonconference schedule,” Pope said. “It’s a tough schedule and might be the death of us, but there’s nothing better than playing great teams in nonconference play, so we are really excited about it.”

The season opens at home in the Marriott Center on Nov. 25 against in-state foe Westminster College. The Cougars then play two more home games featuring New Orleans in a Thanksgiving Day game on Nov. 26, and Utah Valley on Nov. 28 in the UCCU Crosstown Clash.

Next, the Cougars hit the road for Uncasville, Connecticut, to participate in the 14th annual Roman Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper. BYU will take on USC, while UConn faces Vanderbilt, in the semifinals at Mohegan Sun Arena on Dec. 1. The semifinal winners will meet for the Roman Legends Classic title on Dec. 3, followed by the consolation game.

BYU will then face Utah State in Logan on Dec. 5, before heading back to the Marriott Center for back to-back home games with Boise State on Dec. 9 and rival Utah on Dec. 12. The following week, the Cougars head to sunny California for a Dec. 18 game with former conference rival San Diego State.

The nonconference schedule wraps up with the Cougars facing Texas Southern at the Marriott Center on Dec. 21, before hosting Weber State at Vivint Smart Home Arena, in Salt Lake City on Dec. 23.

Game times and complete broadcast plans for the 2020-21 season will be announced at a later date.

In support of the state of Utah’s increased measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, only players’ and coaches’ families will be permitted to attend home games to begin the season.
