PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s basketball head coach Mark Pope announced today that guard Te’Jon Lucas will join the team as a graduate transfer from Milwaukee for the 2021-22 season.

Lucas started all 22 games at Milwaukee in 2020-21, averaging 14.9 points to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 32 minutes of play per game. Lucas was named All-Horizon League Third Team to end the season.

The Wisconsin native signed with Illinois as a four-star recruit out of Milwaukee’s Washington High School in 2016. During his two seasons with the Illini, Lucas started 33 games and averaged five points per game.

Following his sophomore season at Illinois in 2017-18, Lucas transferred to play for his hometown Milwaukee Panthers.

After sitting out the 2018-19 season due to NCAA transfer rules, Lucas made an immediate impact with the Panthers as a junior. In 2019-20, Lucas poured in 14.6 points per game while playing in and staring all 30 contests. The Horizon League also recognized Lucas on the All-Conference Second Team in 2020.

Lucas joins the Cougars as a 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard who will provide the team with valuable experience and leadership following the departure of starting senior guard Brandon Averette.
