Cougar Tipoff on Wednesday

PROVO, Utah – Cougar fans will have a chance to preview the 2011-12 BYU men’s basketball team on Wednesday at the annual Cougar Tipoff in the Marriott Center. The event is free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. MT with doors opening at 6 p.m.

For the first time ever, the Tipoff will be broadcast live online at Jarom Jordan and former BYU coach Steve Cleveland will call the action.

The Tipoff features a full-length scrimmage and a meet-the-team autograph signing with free posters. Gifts and prizes will be awarded during the event.

Schedule of Events

6:00 – Doors Open

7:00 – Lights Out Introductions

7:07 – Tipoff

Papa John’s and Mad Dog Cycle will give away prizes at halftime. Players will be available for autographs following the Tipoff.

The Cougars set a program record with 32 wins last season and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1981. BYU returns three starters this season — Charles Abouo, Brandon Davies and Noah Hartsock.

BYU plays exhibitions in the Marriott Center on Oct. 29 vs. Midwestern State and Nov. 4 vs. Dixie State. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on BYUtv and The 2011-12 season will tipoff at Utah State on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. MT in the Spectrum.
