SOMIS, Calif. - Jordan Rodgers led the BYU men's golf team to a fourth place standing after day one of the Jones Invitational on Monday.

"It was a very challenging day for the team," BYU men's golf coach Bruce Brockbank said. "There was a lot of float to the green, so we struggled early with the putting. We hung in there and this afternoon we played a little more consistent, more like ourselves. I credit the guys for hanging in there in the second round. Jordan Rodgers played well today, but chipping and putting was really borderline today because it's so much more different than last week [in Hawai'i]."

BYU finished the two rounds at 24-over-par to tie with CSU Fullerton in the 12-team tournament. No. 23 Southern California is at 9-over-par with San Diego State and San Diego trailing by two and five strokes, respectively, heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Rodgers finished in fifth at 2-over-par with six birdies on the day, while Justin Keiley tied in 11th with a pair of birdies heading to Tuesday.

Joe Parkinson and Stephen Archibald both tied for 28th place at 9-over-par with five birdies each. Jordan Hammer tied in 39th place at 12-over-par with three birdies on Monday.

West Coast Conference teams San Diego and Pepperdine finished in third and seventh place, respectively.

The Cougars will start the final round of the tournament on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. PST. Live stats can be found on the schedule page, here
