PROVO, Utah - The BYU men's golf team will enter the NCAA Tournament as a six-seed following its win in the West Coast Conference Championships on April 16.

"We're excited for the NCAA regionals and for the chance to compete," BYU men's golf coach Bruce Brockbank said. "We're looking forward to the challenge. The team has worked hard this year and our goal is to play in the NCAA championship in Kansas."

The Cougars will travel to Auburn, Ala., to compete in the 14-team regional tournament on May 15-17 at the Auburn University Club hosted by Auburn.

The low five teams from the six regionals will advance to the finals on May 23-28 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., hosted by Wichita State.

BYU completed its last three tournaments in first or second place, including a first place finish at the WCC Championships. Over the course of the season, the Cougars finished in the top five in all 11 tournaments and finised in the top three in six of those 11 tournaments.

BYU finished in eighth place in the 2013 NCAA Regionals with Devon Purser, Justin Keiley, Jordan Hammer and Joe Parkinson finishing in 23rd, 41st, 46th and 62nd place, respectively. With previous experience, the Cougars will look to capitalize on their strong finish to the season and advance to the NCAA Championships.

"We have had four weeks in between our conference tournament and the NCAA tournament, so exactly what to expect I'm not sure, but I suspect our team will find a way to be their best," Brockbank said.
