Cougars Struggle in Georgia

Alpharetta, GA--The BYU men's golf team is currently tied for last place after two rounds at the U.S. Collegiate Championship on Monday.

It was a day that the Cougars would like to forget. Coach Bruce Brockbank said that there was hard to find anything positive about the team's performance.

"We did not play well at all today," Brockbank said. "It was a tough course and our kids did not respond well out there."

The tournament features four of the top five teams in the country including top ranked Georgia. The Cougars are currently tied for twelve with Florida State at +29.

It was a far cry from the usual showing for the No. 6 ranked Cougars. The good news is that the Cougars have one more round on Tuesday to redeem themselves.

"It will be interesting to see how the guys respond tomorrow," Brockbank said. "I am confident that they will come back tomorrow and play well."

One bright spot for the Cougars was the play of Daniel Summerhays. He shot a one under, 71 in the second round and currently sits at two-over for the tournament.

The Cougars play their final round on Tuesday. Live score updates can be found on golfstat.com.
