PROVO, UT – During the summer months, BYU swimmers have worked hard in the pool, preparing for the upcoming season and aiming to qualify for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

With the first official meet of the season being three weeks away, six Cougars have qualified to compete in the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.

“Getting a trial cut is a goal of any swimmer,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “The Olympic Team Trials is one of the biggest swim meets in the country, and I am so proud of our swimmers that have qualified and hope for more.”

At the Phillips 66 National Championships, Payton Sorenson competed in both the 50- and 100-meter freestyle. In the 50-meter freestyle finals, Sorenson placed fourth with a qualifying time of 22.18. In the 100-meter freestyle prelims, he qualified with a time of 50.49.
