PROVO -- This Friday at 11 a.m. the BYU men's and women's dive teams welcome the No. 2 Stanford Cardinal to town for a dual-style diving meet. This will mark the third time in the last four years that the BYU divers have squared off with Stanford.

"Stanford is very good competition," BYU dive coach Keith Russell said. "This meet with Stanford will help us tune up for our conference championships in a couple of weeks. I hope our team will look at this opportunity as a chance to keep working on the same things we have all season against some very good talent."

BYU will look to sophomores Tawni Jones and Bryce Engstrom to lead the team against the Cardinal. Jones has led the Cougar women all year long from both diving board heights. Jones' top scores on the season are also the best this season in the Mountain West Conference. Her top season score are 301.05 and 327.30 from the 1- and 3-meter boards, respectively.

Engstrom has been a top diver for the BYU men all season long. His season-best score from the 1-meter board this season is 291.97, which came against Wyoming just over two weeks ago and is currently sixth best in the MWC. Engstrom has also posted the best Cougar score from the 3-meter board this season with a 292.65.

Stanford is led by Meg Hostage on the women's side who swept the diving events last competed against the University of Southern California, while the Cardinal men are led by Brent Eichenseer who won against USC from the 1-meter board with a score of 317.17.

This event will be held at the Richards Building Pool and will be free to the public.
