PROVO -- In the third home meet of the season the BYU women’s swim and dive team will welcome New Mexico, the University of Seattle and Boise State to the Richards Building while the men’s team will only compete against Seattle Friday at 6 p.m.

“It should be a good competition all around,” BYU head coach Tim Powers said. “We’re going to be challenged in every event. Boise State is even coming a day early, so we know they are serious about this meet.”

The meet will consist of 16 events, including 200-yard relays to begin and end the meet.

Last weekend BYU hosted UNLV Friday and Arizona State Saturday where the women beat both UNLV and Arizona State and the men had a close meet with UNLV, falling to the Rebels, but beating ASU handedly.

Senior Natasha Menezes broke two BYU pool records in the 200 and 500 free and the women won 15 of the 16 events against UNLV. The men posted five wins against the Rebels.

On Saturday the women won 10-of-13 events while the men won 8-of-13. Highlights at the ASU meet came from sophomore Brandon Watson, who came out with two wins on both of the boards while senior Tawni Jones also won on both boards.

After Friday’s competition, the Cougars will take a week off and next travel to the Nike Cup Invitational in Long Beach, Calif. Nov. 19-21.
