Provo, Utah – No. 60 BYU men’s tennis heads to Claremont, California, this week to compete in the West Coast Conference tournament Thursday through Saturday.

The No. 60 men’s team (18-6, 7-2 WCC) earned a No. 2 seed after finishing second in regular season WCC competition. On Thursday, No. 61 Pepperdine (12-10, 6-3 WCC) and No. 69 Loyola Marymount (12-9, 6-4 WCC) will square off in the first round, with the winner advancing to face BYU in the second round match to be played Friday at 10 a.m. PDT.

With a win, the Cougars would advance to the championship match to be played Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m. PDT, with a potential matchup against top-seeded No. 30 San Diego.

The Cougars ended the season winning four of the final five matches including a 4-2 win over Pepperdine, the first in program history, with junior Jeremy Bourgeois clinching the match for BYU.

Earlier in the season, the Cougars picked up a 4-2 home victory over LMU thanks in part to a third-set tiebreak victory by sophomore John Pearce playing at the No. 4 singles slot.

BYU wraps up the regular season with a 9-1 home record and a season-high No. 44 national ranking as well as a Deseret Duel victory over in-state rival Utah.

Tournament matches will be streamed live through the conference and can be accessed through the BYU schedule page.
