
Three Cougars receive WCC All-Academic Honors



SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Matthew Pearce and Sam Tullis were named to the 2018-19 West Coast Conference Men’s All-Academic Team on Tuesday, while teammate Ben Gajardo received honorable mention.
Pearce, a senior from Provo, Utah, completed his conference career boasting a conference-high 3.97 GPA as a finance major. He finished his season with a 10-3 singles record playing in the No. 6 slot. Pearce also contributed a 15-3 doubles record. This is his third appearance on the WCC All-Academic team.
Tullis, a junior from Centerville, Utah, holds a 3.44 GPA as an accounting major. He completed the season with a 17-0 doubles record and a 10-8 singles record, playing in the No. 4 slot.
Gajardo, a sophomore from Las Vegas, received honorable mention honors. A media arts major, Gajardo contributed a 8-7 singles record and a 17-0 doubles record.
At the end of each season, the WCC selects 12 athletes to represent the WCC as an all-academic team. A student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA while contributing significantly on the team to be considered.
