OKLAHOMA CITY – BYU softball assistant coach and former fast pitch star pitcher Pete Meredith has been inducted into the Amateur Softball Association/USA National Softball Hall of Fame Class of 2016 along with seven others.
“I am very humbled to be included in the ASA Hall of Fame," Meredith said. "You never dream about being included in the hall of fame. I just love playing the game and the competition and competing with the very best."
Meredith had a successful fast pitch career. He is a 12-time ASA All-American, four-time member of Team USA and holds the record for most wins in ASA/USA Championship play (55-27). He pitched the U.S. to a silver medal at the 1998 World Championship and won silver at 1995 Pan American Games.
As a coach, Meredith has been at BYU since 2014. Primarily in charge of pitchers, he has coached Tori Almond and McKenna Bull, who have both broken multiple BYU pitching records in their time as a Cougar.
The Hall of Fame honors those men and women who have played a major role in the growth and development of softball. Election to the ASA National Softball Hall of Fame and Museum is the ultimate honor in softball.
Other members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2016 include Jennie Finch, Ken Eriksen, Harry Haroian, John Nelson, Tom Penders, Mick Rennesien and Terry Petersen. To read more in the inductees, check out the Hall of Fame website.
