Softball overcome by No. 25 Fresno State
FRESNO, Calif. – The BYU softball team was beat by No. 25 Fresno State 8-0 Thursday night on the first night of the Bulldog Classic.
After going down 3-0 in the first inning, the Cougars tried to stay in the game with some baserunners in the top of the third. Rylee Jensen-McFarland doubled to center and HannahJo Peterson followed it up singling right behind the shortstop to move Jensen-McFarland all the way to third base. However, with two outs BYU was unable to score any runs.
The BYU defense kept the Bulldogs scoreless after the first until the fourth inning when they put up two more runs and followed it up with a three-run fifth to end the game due to the NCAA eight-run rule, 8-0.
The Bulldog Classic continues Thursday, March 6 as the Cougars take on UC Davis at 11:30 a.m. PT followed by North Dakota State at 2:30 p.m. PT with a live stream of both games on the Mountain West Network.
