
Jensen named COSIDA Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas — Senior outfielder Rylee Jensen was named to the 2020-21 Academic All-America Softball Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
The 2020-21 Academic Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be considered for the award, an athlete had to be a main contributor or important reserve, as least a sophomore academically, and hold a minimum 3.30 GPA.
With a 3.42 GPA, the Exercise & Wellness major was previously named to the the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and the WCC All-Academic First Team, an honor she also received in 2019.
Jensen was also named to the NFCA All-Region First Team and All-WCC First Team. The senior finished the season with a .393 batting average, good for second on the team. Jensen also set school records in career runs, career doubles, games started and games played. She finished the season tied for 12th in the NCAA with 20 home runs.
