Cougars and Broncos meet in women's hoops Saturday

PROVO, Utah – After a 3-0 start, BYU women's basketball will take on Boise State on Saturday at 2 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center. The game will be televised on BYUtv.

 BYU Game Notes (3-0)

  • LAST GAME: The Cougars controlled a physical Arizona State team and won 55-44 behind 25 points from Paisley Harding and another double-double from Lauren Gustin with 10 points and 16 rebounds. 
  • SERIES: BYU leads the series 11-8 against Boise State. The Broncos won the last contest 66-55 in Boise in 2019.
  • The Cougars have opened the year 3-0 with victories over Lipscomb, Fresno State and Arizona State. Fresno State was picked to win the MWC. 
  • BYU was picked win the WCC title, receiving eight first-place votes in the preseason poll.
  • All five starters from 2020-21 return, including preseason All-WCC selections Shaylee Gonzales (17.8 ppg), Paisley Harding (14.1 ppg) and Lauren Gustin (11.3 ppg, 12.6 rbg).
  • Head coach Jeff Judkins returns for his 21st season after earning his fifth conference coach of the year honor last season. He has a career record of 433-200, nine NCAA tournaments and has won at least 20 games 12 times.

Boise State (1-1)

  • Boise State Head Coach Gordy Presnell entered the season with 705 wins, 34th all-time in NCAA history and 18th among active coaches.
  • The Broncos return six letterwinners from 2020-21 and have added nine newcomers.
  • Boise State's roster consists of student-athletes from seven states (Washington-4, California-2, Idaho-2, Oregon-2, Arizona-1, Georgia-1, Texas-1) and two foreign countries (France-1, New Zealand-1).
  • The game at BYU is first of three-straight away from home for the Broncos.

MASK REQUIREMENT
Consistent with current Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and BYU requirements, BYU Athletics will require masks in indoor venues when physical distancing isn’t maintained. This includes a requirement for those attending indoor athletic events, such as volleyball in the Smith Fieldhouse, basketball inside the Marriott Center and inside the loges at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Wearing a mask will be required for entry to indoor BYU venues. Masks will not be required for outdoor BYU venues. 

BYU strongly urges students, employees and campus guests to follow recent counsel from the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to get vaccinated and wear masks.
