Graham, Hamson and Albiero receive WCC academic honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. – BYU women's basketball graduate Tegan Graham was named to the West Coast Conference Women's Basketball All-Academic First Team on Thursday while Sara Hamson and Maria Albiero were honorable mentions. 

Ten players from the WCC were named to the first team, including Graham. A graduate of the master's program in mass communications, Graham's thesis focused on gender equity in Division I sports.

She averaged just over 10 points per game and shot 38.7 percent from the 3-point line during the 2021-22 season.

Hamson graduated with a degree in bioinformatics while Albiero majored in exercise science. Hamson led the Cougars and was No. 14 nationally with 74 total blocks while Albiero finished her career tied as the school's leader in career games played at 146. 

To be eligible, nominees had to have a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one year in residence completed at the nominating institution.
