BYU places second at Rainbow Wahine Invitational
KAPOLEI, Hawai’i — BYU women’s golf placed second at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational after carding a third-round 281 (-7) Wednesday.
“I’m super proud of our resiliency and how tough we played,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “The girls stepped up when we needed them to. Never count this team out.”
The Cougars shot a combined 10-under par in the last two rounds of the tournament to finish with a total score of 866 (+2), just three strokes behind first-place Sacramento State. BYU’s second-place finish marks the third consecutive tournament the team has finished in the top-two.
Annick Haczkiewicz led the team effort in Wednesday’s third round by firing a team-low 68 (-4). She finished the tournament with a total score of 214 (-2) and tied for sixth individually. Naomi Soifua also tied for sixth after carding a third-round 69 (-3). Allysha Mae Mateo carded a one-under 71 Wednesday to finish the tournament with a combined 217 (+1) and tying for 13th place.
