STILLWATER, Okla. – After being delayed due to thunderstorms and wind, Allysha Mae Mateo finished third at the Cowgirl Classic for the BYU women's golf team.

With difficult conditions, the Cougars, along with the majority of the field, had a hard time recording traditional scores, finishing with a three-round team score of 948, tying with Iowa State for eighth place. Baylor won the tournament at the Karsten Creek Golf Course with a score of 891.

Mateo shot a 73 (+1) to tie for third with a 221 for the event. Her 73 in the final round was just one of seven scores that were bogey golf or better on the day. In large part due to weather, only one player was under par in the last round.

"It was some great playing by Allysha," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "She had a great finish among some really great players."

Kerstin Fotu posted a 78 (+6), finishing tied for 26th. Yesterday, Fotu was recognized by the tournament for her hole-in-one on hole 15.

Annick Haczkiewicz and Naomi Soifua tied for 45th after recording an 87 (+15) and 88 (+16), respectively. Cynthia Tu finished in 48th after a final round 84 (+12).

The Cougars will play in their last fall tournament Nov. 9-10 at the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Georgia.
