LOGAN, Utah - After topping No. 21 Boise State and the Air Force Academy on Friday in the Smith Fieldhouse, No. 11 BYU snagged four Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference accolades in Week 7. All honored Cougars achieved a score of 9.900 or higher.
BYU started the night on vault where Avery Bennett celebrated a new career-high score of 9.900. This score would contribute to BYU achieving its highest vault score of the season, a 49.225. The senior shares Co-Vault Specialist of the Week title with Southern Utah’s Rachel Smith and stands as her first MRGC accolade of the season.
On beam, freshman Sophia McClelland and senior Abby Boden-Stainton performed routines worthy of 9.925 scores. McClelland notched a new career-high score, trumping her former 9.850. Utah State's Autumn DeHarde matched the score and the MRGC deemed the trio Co-Beam Specialists of the Week.
Ending the night on floor, junior Brittney Vitkauskas equaled her career-high score of 9.925, earning MRGC Floor Specialist of the Week for the second consecutive week. Southern Utah’s Hannah Nipp and Karley McClain earned the title alongside the junior.
