BYU 1, SUU 0 in Second Match-up

PROVO -- The BYU Cougars are coming home for only their second meet of the season as they face Southern Utah this Friday in the Smith Fieldhouse.

The Cougars recently completed a month long road trip in which they competed in four meets. BYU was on a seven-meet winning streak which was cut short last week by the University of Utah 196.650-194.350. The Utes continue to be undefeated.

The SUU Thunderbirds are currently 3-3 and ranked 15th in the nation. They have competed at BYU once already this season and were defeated 195.725-192.575. The highest team score for the SUU gymnasts this season was a 196.175 last week against Boise State in Cedar City.

The Cougars have now moved from their eighth place ranking to a tie for 11th with the University of Arkansas. Their season record is 7-2, losing only to No. 1 Utah and No. 9 Oklahoma. Their best score of the season was a 196.125 against Texas Women's where the Cougs also scored season highs on vault (49.275) and beam (48.925).

The meet will take place Friday in the Smith Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. SUU and BYU will also meet again March 19th for their third meet in Cedar City. After this week's competition the Cougars will take on Boise State next Saturday, February 26th in the Marriott Center.
