TULSA -- Facing stiff competition at the Omni Hotels Central Region Championships, the doubles team of Dominique Reynolds and Lindsay Ferrell led the BYU women's tennis team's success. The No. 13 seeded doubles team finally suffered a loss in the quarterfinals against the No. 5 team of Jecminkova and Cooper from Kansas State, 8-6.
Brooke Ferney and Lu Oswald, the No. 3 seeded pair, lost in the second round of the doubles competition. They eventually lost in the finals of the consolation doubles draw to Saluri and Griffin of Oklahoma, 8-3. Lisa Khoudorarova and Elyse Carlsson lost in the first round of the doubles main draw, but played well in the consolation doubles round as well. The pair lost in the semfinals to eventual consolation champions Saluri and Griffin.
The singles competition was less than kind to the Cougars. All five BYU players lost in the first round of the singles main draw. Khoudorarova played the best of the Cougars. After qualifying for the main draw and then losing in the first round, Khoudorarova advanced all the way to the quarterfinals of the consolation singles draw before bowing out with an injury.
