PROVO -- The BYU women's tennis team will kick off its 2000-2001 season this weekend when they host the BYU Invitational, which begins Thursday and ends Saturday at the BYU outdoor tennis courts.
In addition to BYU, the tournament will include Colorado State, Utah, Utah State, Weber State, Boise State, Washington State, Air Force and Wyoming. The tournament will include four singles tournaments and two doubles tournaments, with each school allowed two doubles teams in each double tournament and two singles players in each singles tournament.
The BYU doubles team of Jodi Richardson and Brooke Ferney will meet Utah's Freida Kareld and Cassie Kasteler in the first round of flight one on Thursday. Ferney and Kareld will meet up a second time on Thursday in the first round of the flight one singles tournament.
The tournament will start at nine each morning and will run through the afternoon.
