PROVO -- The BYU women’s tennis team will open its fall season with the annual BYU Invitational Thursday, matching up against athletes from Utah State, Weber State, Colorado State and Wyoming.

BYU will introduce four new players to the team at the invitational—freshmen Callie Craig, Kelsie Craig and Annika Huish and junior Justine Gallacci. Gallacci transferred from BYU Hawaii.

Returning for the Cougars are Kaylyn Bristol, Elle Carney, Elizaveta Ezhova, Aubrey Paul, Megan Price and Andie Young.

A BYU athlete has won the BYU Invitational singles title three years in a row, and the Cougars are looking to make it four years.

The tournament runs from Thursday to Saturday. The athletes will begin play at 10 a.m. at the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts, located behind the Smith Fieldhouse. Admission is free and matches are open to the public.

Spectators may park in the “Y Lot” parking lot after 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and all day Saturday.

The collegiate athletes participate as individuals in this tournament while representing their schools.
