Four Cougars receive WCC All-Academic accolades

PROVO, Utah – Four Cougars received West Coast Conference All-Academic accolades, the league announced Tuesday.

Senior middle blockers Amy Boswell and Whitney Young Howard each made the all-academic team while sophomores Lacy Haddock and Lyndie Haddock collected honorable mention honors.

Boswell, who is first on the team and second in the conference in blocks, averages 1.30 per set. She additionally carries a .392 hitting percentage for the season, second highest in the conference. Boswell made the team with a 3.90 GPA in her nursing major.

Howard is second on the team and third in the conference in blocks, averaging 1.19 per set. Her .401 clip during league play is third highest in the conference. Howard keeps a 3.72 GPA in her major of athletic training.

Lacy Haddock collects 2.20 kills per set, third-most on the team. She has also contributed 59 digs and 56 blocks this year to help her team.

Lyndie Haddock leads the WCC in assists, averaging 10.61 per set. She has led the Cougars to a .296 hitting percentage as a team, the second-highest clip in the BYU rally-scoring era.  

Players are added to the all-academic team for maintaining academic excellence while being significant contributors to their team.

This is Boswell’s third-straight WCC All-Academic honor. Howard was named to the honorable mention list as a sophomore and the first team last season. This is the first academic honor for the Haddock twins.
