BYU women’s volleyball announces 2022 recruiting class, No. 15 in the country

PROVO, Utah - The BYU women's volleyball recruiting class of 2022 has been ranked No. 15 in the country according to PrepVolleyball.com.

"This class brings in physicality to our program that will help at the net and in the back row,” said BYU head coach Heather Olmstead. “They’ve played a lot of high-level volleyball and I’m excited for them to bring that experience to our program.  Eden, Hannah and Kate will join the team in January and that will help jump start their careers at BYU.  This is invaluable to the success of our 2022 season.”

On PrepVolleyball.com, three of the signees rank in the Top 100 among recruits. Prior is ranked No. 25, followed by Bower at No. 54 and Billeter at No. 81.

HANNAH BILLETER

Billeter, is a 5-11 outside hitter from McKinney, Texas. She attended McKinney Boyd High School. Billeter plans to major in exercise science at BYU.

“Hannah has a great arm and a good platform,” Olmstead said. “I’m excited about her versatility and her ability to help in multiple positions. Hannah’s training and experience will allow for a smooth transition to college volleyball.”

EDEN BOWER

From Nampa, Idaho, Bower comes from a long line of BYU athletes. Her father, Danny, played for BYU basketball, while her mother, Caroline, played for BYU volleyball. Additionally, the 6-3 newcomer has two sisters on the team: junior setter Whitney Bower and junior libero Morgan Bower.

Bower played as an outside hitter at Skyview High School and plans to major in wildlife science.

“Eden plays a physical game and loves to be in the gym,” Olmstead said. “She wants to be coached and is excited to follow in the footsteps of her parents and sisters who have played at BYU. Eden always brings the energy and plays with passion.”

NATALY MORAVEC

From Weston, Connecticut, Moravec played as an outside hitter at Hopkins High School. She stands at 6-2. Her mother, Sheena Shen, played volleyball for BYU Hawaii. She plans to pursue a degree in cybersecurity.

“Nataly has put a lot of time into the development of her all-around game,” Olmstead said. “I’m excited about her potential to play six rotations. Nataly has developed a high volleyball IQ because of her desire to learn and be coached.”

KATE PRIOR

Prior Is joining the Cougars from Henderson, Nevada. At 6-4, Prior played as a middle blocker and a hitter for Nevada State High School. She verbally committed to BYU back in 2019 after being recruited by 20+ schools. She is planning on majoring in exercise science with a minor in business.

“Kate has potential to continue the history of great middle blockers at BYU,” Olmstead said. “She has the length and the quickness to develop into a physical player. I envision Kate being an impact blocker and scorer.”
